No One Will Know You Are Wearing Braces In Birmingham

Many Birmingham adults dream of having a celebrity smile, but for some, the thought of enduring months or years with a mouth full of metal thwarts those dreams. If you live in the Birmingham area and don’t want to sport old-school metal braces, we are happy to report that there is a better way.

There are now contemporary, metal-free approaches to straightening crooked teeth. Custom invisible braces that are worn over teeth are now available in Birmingham. When you smile, nobody in Birmingham will know that your teeth are slowly and gently being corrected. The busy lifestyle you lead will not be hampered because invisible braces are so simple and convenient. The comfortable Invisalign aligners allow you to eat anything you want and caring for your teeth will not become cumbersome. Birmingham neighbors will notice your confidence and poise blossoming as your teeth are aligning.

Birmingham Guide To Plaque, Calculus, And Cavities

Mountain Brook Guide To Plaque, Calculus, And Cavities

Hi. I’m Dr. J. Paul Koch. Welcome to my Birmingham dental blog! I find that many of my patients in the Birmingham area get a couple of dental terms mixed up. Today, I would like to clarify the differences between plaque, calculus, and cavities.

Plaque is a film that covers teeth – a sticky layer of bacteria. You can remove plaque through daily brushing and flossing. However, if it isn’t removed it can build up and harden into calculus.

Calculus, also known as tartar, is hardened plaque that also accumulates minerals from food and saliva. Regular check-ups and cleanings with your Birmingham cosmetic dentist are necessary to remove tartar as well as hard-to-reach plaque.

Plaque and calculus are not cavities, but they can lead to cavities. A cavity is basically a hole in the tooth caused by decay. Because plaque and calculus contain bacteria, the bacteria release acids which accelerate tooth decay and eventually lead to more cavities.

A good rule of thumb for Birmingham dental patients is this: Avoid plaque to avoid calculus and tartar to avoid tooth decay to avoid cavities. Got it?

I hope you’ve found this helpful, and if you’re in the Birmingham area and are in need of quality dental care or sedation dentistry, call our office at 205-202-8618 to schedule an appointment today.

Our passionate staff cares about your smile, your comfort and would love to answer any questions you have about our services, including cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening, and veneers.

Friday, April 13th, 2012

Are you a busy Birmingham resident who can’t find the time to improve your smile? My name is Dr. Paul Koch and my staff and I at Koch Aesthetic Dentistry believe finding the time to restore missing, cracked, or discolored teeth is the most important thing you can do with your time.

You may think that hiding your smile as you zip around the Birmingham area running errands or dropping kids off will make your cosmetic dental problems disappear. Think again. At Koch Aesthetic Dentistry we have been treating the residents of Birmingham since 2000 and have seen the results of neglected teeth and gums. Don’t let your smile deteriorate any longer, call me today at 205-202-8618 to begin restoring your smile.

One of our specialties at Koch Aesthetic Dentistry is dental implants. Whether you have damaged or lost your tooth due to injury or periodontal disease, we have custom treatment plans to restore it. Our happy Birmingham dental implant patients have discovered that implants look and feel like their own teeth.

Dental implants are great for producing a foundation for dentures, supporting a bridge, or replacing a damaged tooth without disturbing the surrounding teeth. Since dental implants interface into the anatomy of your jaw they help reduce bone loss and gum recession.

We provide advanced general and cosmetic dentistry including porcelain veneers, dental implants and dental crowns.

Cosmetic Dentistry Gives Mountain Brook Residents Perfect Smiles

Hi. I’m Dr. J. Paul Koch, and I’ve been a dentist here in Alabama since 2000. One of my favorite things about being a dentist is seeing how my Alabama area patients find renewed confidence in themselves after a smile makeover.

If you’ve ever wanted to improve your smile, call me today at 205-202-8618 so we can talk about your cosmetic dentistry options.

There have been numerous advances in the field of cosmetic dentistry in recent years and you may be surprised to find out what your Alabama dentist can do for your smile.

Teeth whitening is a common procedure in Alabama dental offices, but the results can be dramatic! Brighter teeth can be the centerpiece of your new, youthful look.

Porcelain veneers are designed to cover the front of the teeth and are custom-made for each individual patient. These are useful for Alabama patients who have broken or chipped teeth, stained teeth, or gaps between teeth that they would like to hide.

Enamel shaping, bonding, and braces are other important procedures that can be used to help your teeth look their best.

So, why wait, Alabama? Now is the time to get the smile you’ve always wanted, and I’m here to help. The passionate about your smile, your comfort and your professional care staff here at Koch Aesthetic Dentistry would love to answer any questions you have about these cosmetic dentistry procedures as well as bridges, dental crowns, and general oral health.

We are currently accepting new patients, so contact us today!
